Do MDA lights come with globes included?

Most MDA pendants, chandeliers and outdoor wall lights take standard E27, E14 or GU10 globes, and those globes are sold separately so you can choose your own colour temperature and brightness. The integrated LED models, including the Soho, Stellar and Tribeca pendants, have the LED built in with selectable 3000K, 4000K and 5000K colour temperature, so no globes are required. Check the specifications tab on each product for its exact globe requirement.

Can MDA pendant lights be shortened or lengthened?

MDA pendants are supplied with either an adjustable cord or a chain suspension, and each listing states the maximum suspension length, commonly 2000mm or 3000mm. Your electrician can shorten the drop at installation to suit your ceiling height. They cannot be extended beyond the supplied maximum, so if you have a raked or double-height ceiling, check the maximum suspension figure before you order.

Which MDA lights can be used outdoors?

The MDA outdoor wall lights are the Epping and Kent, both rated IP44, and the London, rated IP43. These are suited to sheltered exterior walls, entries, porches and garages. Every other MDA fitting in the range is rated IP20 and is for indoor use only, so do not install an MDA pendant or chandelier in a bathroom zone or anywhere it can be reached by weather.

MDA is known for hand-applied decorative finishes rather than flat powdercoat. Across the range you will find acid copper wash, aged gold leaf, charred iron, weathered iron and weathered bronze, alongside more conventional matt black, satin white, antique brass and satin nickel. Materials include iron, solid brass, glass, marble, porcelain, timber and aluminium. Because several finishes are hand applied, small variations between pieces are normal and are part of the look.

As a rule of thumb, a single pendant over a dining table should be roughly one third the width of the table, and should hang 750mm to 900mm above the tabletop. Over a kitchen island, either run two or three smaller pendants spaced evenly, or use one oversized piece. Many MDA designs, including the Apollo Orb, Theodore, Boaz, Lauren and Toress, come in Small, Medium and Large so you can match the diameter to the space rather than compromise.
