Pillar mount lights create a beautiful ambience and a point of difference for your home or garden. Outdoor pillar lights come in different styles - classic Victorian, galactic orb and more. Our pillar lights are versatile, so you can place them anywhere - on fences, columns or mounted on the top of pillars without any fuss! They give off great illumination and add warmth if it's dark outside. Pillar mount lighting creates a unique look, perfect for your home's front or back yard.
Most post top lights use a base that slides over a standard mass-manufactured post, commonly 76mm, secured with screws or bolts. Extenders are available for some fittings, and solar models often screw directly to the post so they suit odd sizes.
Both mount on top of an existing structure. Post tops fit over a standard-size post, while pillar mounts sit on a wall or gate pillar using a built-in base plate. Because pillars have no standard size, check the plate is smaller than your pillar top.
Hardwired lights give more consistent brightness, while solar offers easy installation with no wiring and has improved a lot in recent years. Choose solar for convenience and zero running cost, or hardwired for maximum, reliable output.
For fittings fully exposed to the elements we recommend IP65. Undercover positions can use a lower rating such as IP44. In coastal areas, pair a high IP rating with marine-grade stainless steel.
If your pillar top is not flat or uniform, you may need an adaptor or mounting plate to create a flat, secure surface for the light to sit on. Check the fitting's base plate size against your pillar before buying.
Post tops use your existing posts or pillars, so they are usually cheaper than a full lamp post, blend into your existing garden features, and still sit up high for broad illumination.
